At London Physiotherapy, we want your experience to be clear, simple, and stress-free. Whether you’re visiting us for the first time or returning for ongoing care, this page answers our most common questions — from what to expect at your session to how booking and insurance work.
What Is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy helps people recover from injury, manage pain, and improve mobility. It combines movement, hands-on therapy, exercise, and education to restore function and promote long-term wellbeing.
What Does a Physiotherapist Do?
Your physiotherapist will listen to your concerns, assess how your body moves, and identify the cause of your symptoms. From there, they’ll design a personalised treatment plan that may include manual therapy, exercises, and self-management strategies.
Where Are You Located?
- Stockwell Clinic
- Avalon Pilates Studio
- Home Physiotherapy – available upon request
What Are Your Opening Hours?
We’re open Monday to Saturday, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, depending on location and therapist availability.
How Can I Book an Appointment?
If it’s your first visit, please select Initial Consultation when booking.
Do I Need to Prepay for My Appointment?
Yes — when you book, you’ll receive a secure payment link to confirm your slot. This guarantees your time and helps us manage appointments efficiently.
Please note our 24-hour cancellation policy.
What Services Do You Offer?
What Can Physiotherapy Help With?
Physiotherapy treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
- Back and neck pain
- Shoulder, knee, and hip pain
- Sports injuries
- Post-surgery rehabilitation
- Chronic pain and joint stiffness
What Happens During My Initial Assessment?
Your 60-minute Initial Assessment includes:
- Discussion of your symptoms and medical history
- Physical examination and movement analysis
- Manual therapy and exercises
- Professional advice and a tailored home plan
Please wear comfortable clothing; shorts are recommended for hip or knee assessments.
What About Follow-Up Sessions?
Follow-up appointments begin with a quick progress check before continuing treatment, exercises, and education for self-management.
Session lengths: 30, 45, or 60 minutes (depending on your needs or insurance cover).
How Should I Prepare or Dress?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows movement. If an area needs to be assessed directly, your therapist will ask for consent before adjusting clothing.
Do I Need a GP or Consultant Referral?
No referral is required for private sessions.
However, if you’re claiming through insurance, please check whether your provider needs one. We’re happy to communicate with your GP or specialist when necessary.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The number of sessions depends on your condition, recovery goals, and home exercise participation. Your physiotherapist will outline an estimated plan during your first visit.
